About the venue

As the old adage goes, there’s nothing certain in life except death and taxes, and this couldn’t be more true for the people of Brisbane as this dark yet elegant bar opens its doors in one of the CBD’s oldest laneways.

Situated in an old warehouse space in a heritage listed building, Death & Taxes is a 90sqm bar with fine wooden furnishes, tiled floors mixed with original floor boards, cosy booths and leather upholstery chairs. The venue maintains the same high standards of presentation as its sister venue Savile Row with the same focus on spirits and cocktails. Another common thread between the two venues is the custom engineered sound system by Soho Sound Design.

About the audio

Death & Taxes comprises of two similar sized rooms that offer independent volume control and local input points for DJs and bands. Each room has three MM-4XP ultra compact loudspeakers with a single MM-10 ultra compact subwoofer for a total of eight loudspeakers. All of these are powered from a single MPS-488HP power supply with processing handled by a BSS BLU-50 Digital System Processor with custom iPhone user control screens. The loudspeaker fittings blend into the rooms nicely whilst providing exceptional clarity and volume for their size, a result easily achievable when using Meyer Sound IntelligentDC loudspeakers.
